I grew up in the bone-chilling paradise of Wisconsin, where I learned to scuba dive at the age of 19. (Yes, I dived in Lake Michigan) Although the wreck diving in the Great Lakes is amazing, eventually the time came when I wanted warmer waters.
So, in 1991 I packed my meager belongings, including the $10.00 I had managed to save and beat a hasty retreat to the island of Kauai to earn my living teaching scuba diving to tourists. After almost 30 years on island, I am no longer teaching scuba, however I still spend most of my time underwater.
I enjoy photographing underwater life in Hawaii and around the world. I hope to capture the beauty I see there and help others appreciate the need to save our precious oceans and other water sources.
I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have met the love of my life right here on Kauai and that we have been able to call this island home all these years.
Special mahalo to Brandi Mueller, for the photo of Michelle behind the camera.
